In addition to constitutional amendments, the election ballot will also have Proposition A, asking Helotes voters to reauthorize the 0.25% street maintenance sales tax to continue providing revenue for the maintenance and repair of existing city streets.
The street maintenance sales tax is not new, it does not increase the sales tax rate in Helotes, nor does it affect the property tax rate. The street maintenance sales tax expires on March 31, 2024, unless reauthorized by Helotes voters.
Important Election Dates
October 10, 2023 – Last day to register to vote
October 23, 2023 – First day of Early Voting by personal appearance
October 27, 2023 – Last day to accept an application for a ballot to be voted by mail
November 3, 2023 – Last day of early voting by personal appearance
November 7, 2023 – Election Day! Helotes City Hall & Helotes Elementary are election day vote centers. Polls are open from 7 AM to 7 PM.

Electioneering at Helotes City Hall
It is the responsibility of each candidate or group wishing to electioneer at City Hall to request an electioneering space prior to the start of the early voting period. Sign-up for the November 2023 Election begins on Monday, October 9, 2023. Spaces shall be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. If the voting period is underway and spaces are still available, the candidate/group will be provided an electioneering space request form.
