General Election Overview
Regular City elections (a “General Election”) shall be held annually on the uniform election date in May, or at other times as may be specified by State Law, at which time officers will be elected to fill those offices that become vacant that year.
City of Helotes elections are governed by Local Govt Code 22.032 and Texas Election Code. The City Secretary oversees election activities for the City and coordinates with the Bexar County Elections Department.
General Election Date for Year 2025
The future general election in the City of Helotes is on Saturday, May 3, 2025. The positions open for election in May 2025 are the Mayor, Council Members Place 3, and Place 5. Voting takes place at the City of Helotes, City Hall Council Chambers, located at 12951 Bandera Road, Helotes, Texas 78023. Filing for a place on the ballot is set by state statute and will open on January 15, 2025, and end on February 14, 2025.
Office Eligibility Requirements
Candidate Qualifications for Helotes Mayor
- Resident of one (1) year in Texas prior to the filing deadline
- Resident of one (1) year in the City of Helotes prior to election day
- Age requirement of 18 years
- Must be a registered voter in the territory elected from by the filing deadline
- Must meet eligibility requirements as prescribed by Election Code 141.001 (a)
Candidate Qualifications for Helotes Council Members
- Resident of one (1) year in Texas prior to the filing deadline
- Resident of six (6) months in the City of Helotes prior to the filing deadline
- Age requirement of 18 years
- Must be a registered voter in the territory elected from by the filing deadline
- Must meet eligibility requirements as prescribed by Election Code 141.001 (a)
Electioneering at Helotes City Hall
