The City of Helotes is located approximately 20 miles Northwest of downtown San Antonio on State Highway 16 (Bandera Road). The City has expanded in recent years to include 7.11 square miles of land and 45.65 linear miles of streets within its corporate City limits. The City’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, or ETJ, covers approximately 10.93 square miles and extends predominantly North along S.H. 16 and South along F.M. 1560.
The City’s total population, according to the 2010 U.S. Census, is 7,341 residents. The 2018 U.S. Census population estimate is 9,567 residents.
