The Helotes Creek Gravity Main and Lift Station #246 Elimination Project by San Antonio Water System (SAWS) is underway. The project is part of the work required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) consent decree to address sewer infrastructure across the SAWS service area. The project consists of approximately 14,700 feet of 6-inch to 18-inch new sewer main along State Highway 16, Old Bandera Road, Riggs Road, and F.M. 1560.
Construction is expected to be completed by December 2024, weather permitting. Construction is being carried out by an independent contractor, however, SAWS inspectors regularly visit the site to ensure progress and compliance with all regulations and codes. During construction, the operation of heavy trucks in the vicinity will increase and traffic may be impacted on State Highway 16, Old Bandera Road, Riggs Road, and F.M. 1560.
