Racial Profiling

Texas Racial Profiling Law

Per the 77th Texas Legislature’s mandate prohibiting racial profiling in Texas, the Helotes Police Department affirms its commitment to unbiased policing in all encounters between an officer and any person. Furthermore, the department will take measures to ensure behaviors and operating procedures that promote public confidence and mutual trust by providing services fairly and equitably.

We are very proud of the relationship the Helotes Police Department shares with the community. Members of the public who have a legitimate concern may make a formal complaint to the Helotes Police Department by contacting the department for information on the complaint process. The Helotes Police Department would also like to know about positive police contacts. These comments can be sent to the department by using the “Email Police” link on this page.

Reports

We make available a statistical compilation of racial profiling data based on the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements. This data is submitted to the governing body and TCOLE each year, no later than March 1. Access the links below for yearly reports.
