Demolition Permit


Please complete the following Demolition Permit Application for all building projects located within the City of Helotes. 

This is a City of Helotes application and should only be submitted if the project is located within the City of Helotes jurisdiction. Applicants are responsible for verifying if an address is located within the City or its ETJ. Find the property on the Bexar County Appraisal District’s website at www.bcad.org to confirm permitting jurisdiction before submitting this application. Refunds will not be given for applications submitted that are outside of the City of Helotes jurisdiction. The applicant should also ensure that all information provided on the application is correct before submitting it. Applications can take up to 10 business days to process.

SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Obtain and fill out a demolition permit application.
  2. Stormwater management pollution prevention plan.
  3. Provide a letter indicating whether or not the building has any historical significance.
  4. Provide two color photographs of the structure to be demolished.
  5. Provide a letter of authorization to obtain the demolition permit if the applicant is not the property owner.
  6. Contact City Public Service, Grey Forest Utilities, and all other pertinent utility companies for service disconnections.
  7. Submit a scaled site plan indicating structure(s) to be demolished along with all existing buildings and distances to all property lines.
  8. Submit a demolition plan detailing the method of demolition.
  9. Submit a copy of an asbestos survey (commercial buildings only) from a licensed asbestos abatement contractor.
  10. The applicant must not begin any work until the demolition permit has been issued and the applicant has notified the Texas Department of Health of the demolition at 512-834-6747 or 1-800-572-5548 a minimum of ten (10) working days prior to demolition.

All demolition work must comply with the 2021 International Building Code and the Texas Department of Health Regulations.

Contact all utilities servicing the structure(s) for service disconnections.

No work should commence until the applicant receives the Demolition Permit and has notified the Texas Department of Health of the demolition at (210) 979-2108 a minimum of ten (10) working days prior to demolition.
