Ethics Commission

The Ethics Commission meetings are held annually in February, and other times during the year as needed, at Helotes City Hall. The meetings begin at 7:00 p.m.

Purpose

  • To guarantee that city officials and employees are held accountable for their actions.
  • To hear and decide rulings on allegations of violations of Code of Ordinances, Chapter 2, Article IV, Sec. 2-63 – Ethics Commission, including the power to investigate, request, and gather evidence necessary to determine if a violation has occurred.
  • To maintain sworn complaints in compliance with the City’s records retention schedule.

Membership and Appointment

The Ethics Commission is composed of seven members. Each Council Member appoints one Commission member and the Mayor appoints two Commission members. All appointees are approved through a majority vote by Council.
