Fence Permit

Please complete the following Fence Permit Application for all building projects located within the City of Helotes. 
 
This is a City of Helotes application and should only be submitted if the project is located within the City of Helotes jurisdiction. Applicants are responsible for verifying if an address is located within the City. Find the property on the Bexar County Appraisal District's website at www.bcad.org to confirm permitting jurisdiction before submitting this application. Refunds will not be given for applications submitted that are outside of the City of Helotes jurisdiction. The applicant should also ensure that all information provided on the application is correct before submitting it. Applications can take up to 10 business days to process.

Chapter 18, Section 12,

Section 312.2 - Access Control Gate Systems.

An electronic or manual access control gate and / or system, with or without connecting fencing and used for vehicular ingress/ egress purposes, across the front, side or rear property line of a parcel of land and abutting a public right-of-way shall be constructed a minimum of twenty feet (20') from the property line.

Sec. 98, Section 7. - Visual barriers obstructing sight line at intersections. No visual barrier, including, but not limited to, fences, hedges, shrubs, weeds, or trees, which obstructs sight lines at elevations between three feet and eight feet above the roadway shall be placed or permitted to remain on any corner lot within the triangular area formed by the street property lines and a line connecting them at points 25 feet from the intersection of the street lines, or in the case of a rounded corner, 25 feet from the intersection of the street lines extended. The same sight line limitations shall apply at the intersection of a street property line and edge of driveway or alley pavement except distance from the intersection shall be ten feet.
